Overview of a Financial Inclusion officer
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Financial Inclusion officer to join an expanding team. The role of Financial Inclusion officer has a competitive pay rate of £17.40 per hour PAYE. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
The Main Purpose of a Financial Inclusion officer:
" To be responsible for providing a holistic package of support and interventions to tenants at risk of financial exclusion.
" To ensure that income to the organisation is maximised by working closely across specialisms within the service to develop strategies to prevent the accrual or debt amongst vulnerable groups.
" To work in partnerships with Communities and Customer Relations Team, key stakeholders or other services/ institutions to deliver the financial inclusion objectives of HFH, to include wide range of programmes such as access to affordable credit reducing loan sharks, partnerships with banks, credit unions and other financial products e.g. home insurance, fuel poverty, signposting, toolkits, basic bank accounts, financial literacy training.
" To forge close links/partnerships with the Council, RSLs, credit unions, CAB and other services/external agencies to continuously develop and improve services and products available for residents.

" To assist residents to maximise their financial opportunities as well as protecting HFH's financial position by ensuring maximum income from rent service charge and housing benefit (Universal Credit) and direct payment or Direct Debit.
" Arrange home visits and personal contact with individual residents to carry out financial capability assessments, income/benefit maximisation reviews and ensure tailored actions/support plans are delivered and successful outputs attained.
" To fully utilise IT systems to prepare and collate statistical or performance information, to demonstrate outputs attained. Providing analysis and taking corrective actions to achieve targets set.

" Experience of working within a social housing setting or understanding the needs and issues faced by vulnerable or disadvantaged tenants at risk of financial exclusion
" Good knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, universal credit, legislation, policies, and issues relating to income maximisation and debt prevention

" Knowledge of financial and banking regulations
" High level of numeracy and literacy
" Experience of providing training and awareness raising initiatives and campaigns to maximise financial capability
