The Car Parks team are looking to recruit Car Park Stewards to ensure a great visitor welcome at the Eden Project during our summer period.
As a Car Park Steward, you will manage the flow of our visitors through our car parks whilst supporting the wider site team. Our team carries health and safety at the forefront of their role, and keeps on top of a busy flow of traffic whilst ensuring a safe environment for our visitors.
The Car Parks team work together to ensure anticipated visitor numbers are parked quickly and effectively to our Car Park capacities. The team keep in contact with the Duty Manager to update them on traffic flow and any traffic incidents.
The Car Parks team are a vital part of our daily visitor experience, working in all weathers with long periods of standing amongst moving traffic. Members of the Car Park team are required to work weekends and some evenings as a vital part of managing our visitor entrance and exit, especially during our peak summer periods and our yearly Eden Sessions.
Full training and PPE will be provided. A full UK driving license is essential for this role and you will be trained to use the Car Parks team’s fleet vehicle.

Job Family Definition
Roles within the Facilities & Estates job family are dedicated to the safe, strategic and operational management of Eden sites from the design and implementation of capital projects, through to the maintenance of buildings and equipment, and the provision of estate facilities which enhance visitor enjoyment.

Role Purpose
To manage visitor traffic efficiently and effectively, maintaining a safe environment while enabling a smooth flow into the car parks, ensuring that available space is optimized and a smooth transition onwards to the Visitor Centre.

Key Accountabilities
1. To ensure that all public gates are open on time and closed at the end of the day and to work to an efficient traffic management plan that ensures the anticipated visitor numbers are parked quickly and effectively, optimizing the available space and allowing the smooth transition of visitors to the main site.

2. To monitor the Eden projects outer estate from a security perspective, checking all buildings on a daily basis and regularly checking that all main gates leading into the main site remain closed at all times.

3. To ensure all car parks are a tidy and safe environment at all times and that there is clear and accurate information available to our visitors at all times to assist them in their visit.

4. To keep the duty managers updated with traffic flow and numbers so this can be shared with other teams to allow them they can be sufficiently prepared for daily operations.

5. To support other teams with any incidents or emergencies on site including the escorting of emergency vehicles

6. Flexibility to action other reasonable requests as delegated by a senior manager to assist the wider team deliver a world class visitor experience

7. With the appropriate training and support you may be required to work in the retail and admissions, hospitality and events or security team according to business need.

Demands of the Role
Education & qualifications
The role holder is expected to have achieved a minimum level of education of GCSE (D-G) / Level 1 NVQ qualification and have reasonable literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to manage basic computer skills/use MS Office. The role holder will also be required to hold a full UK driving license.
Knowledge & skills
Knowledge and skills will be acquired through Eden’s basic on the job training. Chapter 8 training is desirable.

Most decisions are routine in nature, drawing upon the role holder’s existing knowledge and skill. Unusually complex or serious situations which fall outside of existing procedures are referred to a senior member of staff to address.
Resourcefulness
The role holder will mainly follow established processes but will occasionally need to be flexible, adaptive and creative when reacting to unexpected traffic volume or incidents such as accidents blocking roads or car parks.
People & asset management
The role holder may be required to mentor less experienced colleagues. They have the shared responsibility for the car parks vehicles.
Communication & visitor experience
The job holder is required to engage with visitors and colleagues in the main responding to routine enquiries and requests for information and providing basic information and assistance
Operational environment
