The role of the Primary Mental Health Worker is to strengthen and enhance the emotional health and wellbeing provision for children and young people coming into contact with a range of services i.e. Schools etc. The post-holder will provide regular and ongoing consultation, joint work, training and advice within a multi-agency setting in relation to children’s and young people’s mental health and also be expected to carry out comprehensive mental health assessments and direct therapeutic work as required.

We are looking for 1 full time PMHW 37.5 hours and 1 part time 30 hours.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced registered professional to work within YoutherapY. You will work as a Primary Mental Health Worker within our service offering regular and on-going consultation, joint work, training and advice to Colleges in relation to young people's mental health to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people. You will also provide full assessments, intervention and evaluation of the mental health care to young people and their families in a variety of settings, and in line with local and national guidelines.

- To work closely with schools and other agency staff offering regular professional consultation, joint work, training and advice in order to identify and address the emotional and mental health needs of children and young people as early as possible.
- To collaborate with a range of other agencies e.g. Health, Education, Social Care and voluntary sector to promote a network of services providing help and support to children, young people, parents and carers.
- To raise awareness and promote the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people within the wider community.
- To carry out comprehensive mental health assessments with children and young people and their families in a variety of setting and situations. This may require working weekends and evenings.
- To manage a clinical caseload, comprising of assessments and ongoing direct therapeutic interventions with children, young people and their parents/ carers. This will include regular liaison and collaborative working with other agencies.
- To regularly discuss clinical issues and concerns with the YoutherapY Team Leaders, and Options3 CYP colleagues as required.
- To understand and work within Child Protection protocols and guidelines.
- To participate in and provided training to other agency staff in relation to a wide range of child and adolescent mental health and emotional wellbeing issues.
- To maintain a high standard of record keeping and reports at all times.
- To participate in clinical governance programs.
- To participate in evaluating the effectiveness of the PMHW role including consultation, joint working, training and therapeutic interventions e.g. individual work, family work, group work whilst responding to the changing needs of the clients and the service.
- To attend and participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision within the team.
- To attend team meetings on a regular basis.
- To support students and other trainees on placement.
