We’re looking for friendly volunteers with good interpersonal skills to support people who use our services. As a befriender, you will meet a wide range of people, all living with sight loss living in our community and experiencing isolation.

This could involve meeting the client for a cup of tea and a chat or accompanying them to an activity (such as a trip to a cafe or the theatre). In some cases, you may accompany the older person to the occasional hospital or doctor's appointment. There will likely be some volunteering from your own home involved, checking in with clients by telephone.

You will help us to improve the quality of life of people using our services and play a vital role in easing isolation.
