**Job Title: Volunteer Co-ordinator**

**Location**:Based in Donnington, with occasional travel across West Sussex, East Sussex, Hampshire and London

**Salary**:Circa £24,000 - £26,000 (Pro Rata)

**Schedule**:25 hours per week

**Job Background**:
UKHarvest is looking for a hard-working, multi-talented person to be responsible for co-ordinating the UKHarvest’s team of volunteers. The Volunteer Co-ordinator is a key member of the UKHarvest structure, co-ordinating volunteers to work across a wide range of events and volunteering opportunities.

**Main Objectives**:
As the Volunteer Co-ordinator, the post holder will:

- Provide guidance, support and supervise volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers have a positive & rewarding experience, whilst supporting UKHarvest.
- Ensure professional best practice and compliance with policies and procedures, project management systems and procedures.
- Identify and develop volunteer opportunities that support strategic objectives.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**:

- Provide effective management to all volunteers who are supporting events, identifying their needs and developing their skills.
- Support and supervise volunteer activities and opportunities across departments.
- Contribute to the development of both the UKHarvest’s work and smooth running of their programmes.
- Active participation in monthly team meetings.
- Undertake project delivery and programme management as required.
- Ensure that events are effectively monitored and evaluated, ensuring high quality communication (including verbal and written reports) to and between volunteers, partners, funders and stakeholders.
- Work with the Communications Officer to ensure effective publicity and marketing for events projects.
- Liaise with other practitioners across the sector to share best practice, ensure effective project delivery on cross-themed projects, replicate development opportunities and maximise volunteer skills.
- Liaise across the organisation to ensure all management and financial aspects of programmes are managed appropriately, according to the needs of the overall organisation and funding bodies, where necessary.

**Personal and Professional Development**
- Participate in UKHarvest’s Performance Management and Appraisal process, and agree short, medium
- and long-term goals with your manager, for events, community fundraising, and volunteers.
- Identify learning and development needs of yourself and volunteers with your line manager and evaluate to demonstrate needs have been met.
- Share best practice and achievements, and actively seek opportunities to present outcomes and case studies.
- Contribute to the learning of others across the organisation by sharing knowledge and skills both informally and formally by participating in UKHarvest’s management team meetings.

**Person Specification**

Essential:

- Ability to provide support, advice, direction and motivation for volunteers.
- Ability to develop and coach volunteers over multi-disciplinary areas.
- Ability to think ahead, analyse opportunities, and propose solutions to challenges
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, external partners and decision makers in public and private sector organisations.
- Ability to identify, secure resources and manage the delivery of projects and evaluate their outputs and outcomes.

- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to deliver community fundraising initiatives.

Desirable
- Understanding of the food waste environment or food insecurity.
- A willingness to be flexible in work patterns and to fulfil occasional evening and weekend duties
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to equal opportunities in practice.
- Full clean driving licence.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
