Clinical Research Fellow, General Medicine (ST3+ equivalent)

The job will combine clinical work (80%) and protected time for research work (20%). Out-of-hours work is also a requirement of this role.

The post will suit a motivated doctor who would like to develop their knowledge and experience in the field of research. When working clinically the post holder will work in neurology, stroke and complex rehab, as a member of the ward based teams at Harrogate District Hospital.
- To develop own knowledge and experience in research
- To undertake a range of research activities which will ensure a strong foundation in this field
- To work as part of a team to deliver inpatient medical care.
- To work as part of a team (ST3+ level) to deliver inpatient medical care and care out-of-hours
- To maintain a high professional standard and actively participate in matters concerning patient safety and Clinical Governance

Job responsibilities
- 20% protected-time for research work.
- You will be provided with a research ‘curriculum’ to help guide your development. This will be tailored to your level of experience and needs.
- To be affiliated with and supported by the Trust’s Research Team.
- To provide a bridge between our research team and our junior doctor body and be instrumental in the recruitment of patients into NIHR portfolio studies
- To work as part of ward-based medical teams caring for neurology, stroke and complex rehab inpatients in an ST3+ equivalent role, which will form the 80% clinical commitment
- To work as a medical registrar with out-of-hours/on-call commitment

Person Specification

Experience

Essential
- Primary medical qualification, MBBS or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of IMT/ACCS (or equivalent experience)
- Keen interest to develop knowledge and experience in research
- Previous experience working in the NHS

Desirable
- Research experience
