**Job Description, Driver/Support Worker**

**Venue - Glasgow (citywide).**

**Hours - Full Time (35 hours). Mon-Friday 8.30-4.30pm.**

**Main Purpose**

GGG runs three Adult Day Care Centres across the city, all of which focus on reducing loneliness and social isolation in older adults.

**Summary of the role**

Drivers/Support Workers are responsible for transporting older adults from one place to another, as needed, in a timely, safe and efficient manner (normally home to the relevant day centre). Using one of charity's 15 seater minibuses, or the 7 seater people carrier) In addition, they maintain a regular cleaning service for their vehicles, and they also plan routes based on road conditions.

They carry out other reasonable driving duties for the charity, such as transporting paperwork or goods between centres. Maintenance of the vehicles is coordinated by the Transport Coordinator, drivers are responsible for reporting concerns, or problems, in a timely manner and to carry out a visual check each time they use a vehicle.

Once in attendance at the day centres they undertake support service. This includes assisting with activities (such as Bingo/Quizzes/ arm chair exercises), assisting service users around the centre (The centres are low level care, continence care is not provided)) and they deliver refreshments and lunches to service users.

Drivers/support workers are an integral part of the day centre teams and they must attend staff meetings, or mandatory training (as required).

**Key Skills**
- Commitment to the GGG charity cause.
- Supportive, sensitive, and patient when dealing with needs of older people.
- Clean UK driving license (including D1)
- It is desirable that the person is a member of MiDAS, though this can be organised by the Charity once the role commences.
- Good communications skills and the ability to work as a team player.
- Sensitivity towards the needs of volunteers and departmental managers.

**Experience**
- Driving vehicles to a high and compliant standard.
- Working within a charity or volunteer led organization (advantageous).
- working within a service led industry
- Confident and enjoys interacting with older adults
- First Aid accredited (desirable)
- To have a general understanding of Health and Safety for older people with regard to entering/exiting vehicles, slips, trips and falls (advantageous - full training given).

**Salary**: £19,838.00 per year
