The **Assistant Accountant** will work closely with the wider finance team to support our corporate finance functions, this newly created position sits in our Peteborough office working with the Group Financial Accountant. We are lookign foran applicant with a strong background in **bookkeeping a**nd **balance sheet reconciliations**. This is an ever changing role, working to strict deadlines and support period end. The**Assistant Accountant** will assist in the annual audit but also assist in the preparation of the monthly managementaccounts.

**This role involves but is not limited to**:

- Bookkeeping for several group entities
- Daily bank reconciliations and postings
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Liaise with management teams to ensure individual company needs are being met
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide commentary and analysis on key balances
- Provide assistance in the annual audit
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns

**Requirements**:

- Ability to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Ability to work under own initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- AAT or similar accounting qualification
- Experience of accounts software packages
- Understanding of the controls and systems environment
