Paramedic Practitioner

Serve as the first point of contact for clinical queries from practice receptionists. Handle triaging responsibilities. Conduct urgent/same-day clinics. Perform home visits alongside the GP visiting team.

Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients with undifferentiated diagnoses. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from both physiological and psychological perspectives, planning clinical care accordingly. Manage the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs. Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug-based and non-drug-based treatments into management plans.

Initiate and interpret tests and investigations as needed. Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, ensuring it meets patient needs and follows evidence-based practice and national/practice protocols within the scope of practice. Work with patients to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments. Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medications, including medication regimens, side effects, and interactions.

Record accurate patient data to an agreed standard. Collaborate with other members of the Primary Health Care Team, including doctors, nurses, and other Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), accepting referrals and referring patients to them for specialist care. Directly refer to and liaise with consultants and other professional agencies. Ensure a high standard of clinical practice by adhering to current best practices, pursuing further training if necessary, and continually updating clinical knowledge.
