Youngstock Rearer

**The Opportunity**: _Are you passionate about youngstock, have a can-do attitude and eager to develop your skills and knowledge about calf rearing? W_e are searching for a Calf Rearer to manage a large calving unit in Cheshire. You will be part of a successful family dairy enterprise, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit to maximise calf performance. A fantastic working environment, you will be provided with the full support and training to enable you to develop and grow in this sector.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Manage and coordinate the daily calf routine; feeding, vaccinations, health checks
- Monitor calf health with a close eye; reacting promptly to any issues for a quick resolution
- Develop and oversee the feeding programmes to optimise calf health
- Ensure a high level of hygiene is adhered to at all times
- Maintain accurate records on calf health, weights and treatments
- Implement and adhere to industry standards and regulations

**Skills you will need**:

- Essential:_
- Previous experience of livestock management
- A willingness and enthusiasm to learn about calf rearing systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and cleanliness
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of the wider team
- A problem solver, with the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly
- Organised with excellent time management skills
- Self-motivated and flexible with the confidence to work independently (when required)
- The ability to follow farm protocols
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks
- Desirable:_
- Telehandler licence
- Experience of calf rearing
- Experience of milking cattle

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 - 70 per week
