Assistant Psychologist

We have an exciting opportunity for one full time Assistant Psychologist to support the work of the Psychologists within our Mid Bedfordshire Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for Older Adults and Memory Assessment Service (MAS) based in Biggleswade. The post is an 18 month Fixed Term contract. A significant proportion of the post-holders role will be undertaking neuropsychological assessments under supervision as part of the Memory Assessment Services. Additionally, the successful applicants will support the Psychologists in a range of activities such as Quality Improvement, group work and training as well as completing individual interventions such as the START programme for carers of people with dementia. The role is predominately working within the community but there may be some inpatient working if required.

These posts have a strong clinical component to it. The successful applicants must have excellent communication skills, a strong academic record with excellent IT literacy skills and skills in data collection and evaluation. We are also looking for people who are able to engage positively and sensitively with people with mental health difficulties and dementia as well as family members and carers. The ability to work collaboratively with other professions is a central part of the post in order to provide high quality person-centred care.
