**About the role**
Balfour Beatty VINCI has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join our Procurement team working on HS2, based from our office in Kingsbury.

**Role Purpose**

To assist with procurement activities, supporting the Procurement Managers and Senior Buyers in the procurement of works which deliver customer priorities and ensure value is maximised.

**What you'll be doing**
- Supporting the procurement teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements.
- Carrying out supplier evaluations and commercial checks for suppliers and past performance.
- Facilitate an efficient and compliant process for all material and plant procurement.
- Support the development of procurement plans and packaging strategies.
- Assist in the development of efficient value-added reports.
- Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency.

**Who we're looking for**
- Ability to deconstruct contractual information into smaller categories in order to draw conclusions.
- Ability to understand the commercial aspects and its impacts.
- A measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
- Ability to focus on the targets and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic financial and accounting principles in order to have sound judgment when making decisions
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Knowledge of effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers
