Role: SENCO Support Practitioner

Contract Type: Permanent / Term Time / 40 hours

**Salary**: £15,838.40 - £18,240.00 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Our lovely nursery and preschool is recruiting for a SENCO Support Practitioner to join our team. This post is term time only (38 weeks per year), working 40 hours per week.

Purpose of Role:
To deliver a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children with Special educational needs and disabilities placed in our nursery alongside keeping everyone safe.

Responsible for:

- Consistently deliver and plan rich learning opportunities and exceptional care that helps all children to develop and meets their individual needs
- Make accurate and effective assessments which reflect the needs, interests, and stages of development of the child by effective delivery of the key person approach. Collate this information to contribute to Support plan reviews and or EHCP’s
- Ensure effective communication with the setting SENCO and support collaboration between the setting, professionals, and parents.
- Ensuring an enabling environment is providing consistent stimulating and inspiring activities for the children in both the indoor and outdoor area as a continuous provision
- Ensure children have the appropriate equipment and resourced to support the children’s SEND needs
- Promote inclusion and relationships with children with or without SEND
- Meet physical, sensory, emotional or communication needs as required whilst encouraging independence
- Ensure that British Values are incorporated and demonstrated through Early Years Foundation Stage learning and play
- Safeguard and promote the health, safety, and welfare of children in line with our child protection and keeping everyone safe policies and procedures
- Ensure internal policies and procedures are adhered whilst also meeting the external legislation and guidelines from our governing bodies
- Promote and follow guidelines implemented for supporting behaviour including supporting children to manage their own feelings and behaviours
- Continually work in partnership with colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of the children ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach is maintained at all times
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication at all levels
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions for continuous professional development
- Attend training sessions specific to the children with SEND for continuous professional development and cascade this to the wider team
- Working as part of a larger team to ensure all essential day to day tasks are completed in line with the nursery demands i.e.. Hygiene standards and room preparation
- To provide support for your colleagues within the nursery and the broader business.
- To care and provide learning and education to all other children within the setting.

Essential Experience:

- Experience of working within the Early Years Sector
- Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities

Experience Desirable:

- Previous experience of working one to one with children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities

**Qualifications**:

- Paediatric First Aid (can be completed inhouse)
- Specific SEND training in one of the 4 broad areas of SEND

Personal attributes
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and embrace new ways of doing things
