We are currently looking for dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to work at a Residential Home in South West London.

**Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with Children in a residential environment is ESSENTIAL.**

**Starting Salary of £26,900.**

**Role**:
You would be working for a very well-established and historic Children’s Service provider, joining a dedicated and experienced team of staff in supporting children and young people.

You would be providing direct care and support to nine young people of mixed genders aged 11-17. The children will display varying kinds of complex, challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties having suffered with past trauma.

The provider and its staff work with a therapeutic approach to care, aiming to help young people develop a restorative approach to behaviour, fulfil their potential and find their place in the community.

**Schedule**:

- Waking Nights, days allocated on a rota basis.
- 22:00pm - 08:45am
- 3 Shifts one week, 4 shifts the next. (Averaging 40 hours a week).

**Requirements**:

- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (Desirable)
- Experience of achieving positive outcomes with working in a children’s service.
- A working knowledge of Children Safeguarding practices.
- Understanding of the issues some young may people have faced, including radicalisation, self-harm, sexual exploitation and how these impact on behaviour.

**Responsibilities**:

- To maintain the development of positive childcare practice in keeping with the aims and objectives
- Personal care involved
- To provide a safe, warm and supportive environment for the young resident.
- To comply with company rules, policies and practices of the establishment and to respond to emergencies which may arise within the establishment.
- To develop a responsible attitude with residents with regard to the fabric, furnishings, equipment, supplies and services in/or to the establishment and to support them in all domestic aspects of both their own personal space and communal areas of the establishment.
- To foster and encourage, whenever appropriate contact between residents and their families.
- To promote and encourage learning by young people. Services and to work with young people on educational activities within the programmes of education devised by the Home
- To accompany the young people on outdoor activities when required.
- To carry out the duties of the post in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and receiving support as necessary.
- To physically intervene if a resident’s behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in accordance with procedural guidance of the establishment and relevant legislation.
- To attend relevant internal and external meetings/training as requested.
- To be responsible for the health and safety of self and others.
- To carry out any other appropriate duties requested by the RM and respective line manager.
- To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults responsible for (or come into contact with) in accordance with the Academy’s Safeguarding Policy & Procedures.
