Responsible for fit testing staff to ensure that respirators (re-usable and disposable masks) fit their face using either the qualitative and quantitative fit testing methods in accordance to HSE INDG 479

Routinely replace reusable masks filters

Accurately record outcomes of fit testing (this may include paper records, spread sheet and databases).

Review records relating to fit testing to identify staff that are due for routine retesting or have not been tested on new masks available within Trust stock.

Maintain Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and Fit Testing equipment to ensure sufficient testing equipment is order to continue fit testing staff trust wide

Communicate key messages to all wards and specialties regarding fit testing

Train staff with fit checking the masks

Undertake other duties as requested and appropriate to the role and/or as delegated

The post holder will be responsible for providing a fit testing service for all staff that may be required to wear tight fitting respirators (re-usable or single use) as part of the job. The post holder will be fully trained for both the qualitative and quantitative fit testing methods. The post holder will be responsible for providing high level of comprehensive support to staff being mask fit tested, including:
Training on ‘donning’ and ‘doffing’ PPE, mainly RPEs

Adequacy and suitability of tight fitting masks

Training how to use face masks safely

Guidance on correct handling and storage of PPE

Guidance on when to use respirators

The post holder will need to have excellent customer care to provide a professional, reliable and consistent service. The post holder will develop and maintain relationships with staff from all areas to monitor and deliver of the programme; this will also require excellent organisation skills for administration and record keeping.

Responsible for fit testing staff to using both the qualitative and quantitative fit testing methods in accordance to HSE INDG 479

Ensure that RPEs are maintained and checked

Participate in fit testing training with colleagues and share knowledge with new members of the team.

Attend training to ensure proficiency in standard operation of local or Trust wide technology systems e.g. Datix etc.

Working with IT systems within the service (Data bases)

Attend the weekly meeting to provide updates and share any concerns, trends or risks.

Respond to any identified concerns working in collaboration with the Fit testing Team.

Comply with the Trust confidentiality/IG policy.

Ensure quality and effectiveness of service area procedures and processes.
