A fantastic opportunity to join our team, Norfolk Audit Services, Norfolk County Council’s Internal Audit Team as a Trainee Internal Auditor. This is a full-time permanent position that will see you through a funded and supported professional qualification (Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner apprenticeship). This is an exciting opportunity for an individual wishing to enter a career within internal audit.

You will be provided with the relevant on the job training in the different aspects of internal audit as you progress through your studies.

**The role**

This role would suit an individual who is looking to develop their skills, progress their career and gain a professional qualification. As a Trainee Internal Auditor, you will initially be supervised, carrying out traded audits for schools and grant certification work, before progressing onto less complex audit assurance work. At first, your work will include testing controls and making recommendations for improvements which will encompass communicating with different levels of staff within the County Council and at maintained schools. Your work will be largely based at County Hall and at the County Council’s maintained schools throughout Norfolk.

You will be supported by qualified and experienced team members, who will motivate and drive you to achieve your best.

**About you**

We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their career, who has a willingness to learn, is self-motivated and enthusiastic and able to work within a team.

This role would suit someone who is confident in communicating and gets on well with different types of people, is analytical and detail focused and has an enquiring mind.

You are likely to have an interest in working in an auditing and /or business or financial environment and a positive attitude towards future career development. You are not required to have previous internal audit experience, although some understanding of what internal audit work entails would be beneficial. Experience of working in a business or financial environment is essential.

**Qualifications and experience**

You will need to have gained at least two A levels, grades A to C (or equivalent) and have Maths and English GCSEs/O levels. You will be required to study for the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner apprenticeship qualification. Study assistance will be available to support achieving this qualification.

**Location**

Your work will be largely based at County Hall, Norwich, working remotely and in the office at times, but you may also be required to travel as part of your duties on occasions and will be responsible for making your own travel arrangements in the most effective and efficient way to perform your job and you should have the ability to travel to locations not accessible on public transport routes.
