**Purpose of Position**:
**Team Aim**:
Our aim is to provide high-quality, professional fibre design services for telecommunications clients, ensuring compliance with CDM2015 and NRSWA91 regulations.

**Operational Responsibilities**:

- **Client Workstream Management**: Lead a client workstream, supporting both clients and internal teams to achieve results in line with client specifications and CDM2015 regulations (as Principal Designer or Designer).
- **End-to-End Planning**: Coordinate all planning activities, from crafting a 'concept design' for route walking/joint surveying to completing a comprehensive 'technical design.'
- **Safety Risk Identification**: Identify health and safety risks from utility statistics and field feedback, ensuring proactive risk mitigation.
- **Design Job Pack Production**: Produce design job packs for the build teams and make changes as needed, maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- **Bespoke Surveys**: Provide support for specialized site surveys and associated design work, including RFCs, disconnects, diversions, MDUs, and business parks.
- **Data Quality Assurance**: Actively support and safeguard data quality within GCU's asset and client management systems.

**Health and Safety Responsibilities**:

- Adhere to GCU's Health and Safety Policy and Processes, prioritizing the safety of all personnel involved.
- Identify and communicate operational risks associated with client design to relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.

**Quality Responsibilities**:

- Maintain the highest level of accuracy and diligence in all tasks.
- Follow operational processes to ensure compliance with client and statutory duties.
- Ensure that all information passed to the Programme Manager and/or Contract Leads is up-to-date and accurate at all times.

**Qualifications and Skills Required**:
**Essential**:

- Proficiency in industry-recognized GIS software such as ARCGIS/QGIS.
- Proven experience as an FTTP Planner with a track record of managing and delivering client designs from High Level Design to Low Level Design, including the production of job packs.
- Proficient understanding and practical experience of CDM2015 and NRSWA91, with a focus on PIA infrastructure.
- Detailed understanding of all aspects of civil route planning and fibre planning, including engineering use of PIA infrastructure (underground and overhead).
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK local and national authority regulations related to civil engineering works.

**Desirable**:

- Familiarity with FTTP/FTTH methodologies and design.
- Ability to understand and produce detailed industry-standard survey, installation, and as-built documentation.
- Knowledge and understanding of lit fibre services.
- Basic understanding of transmission principles.
- Experience in a client-facing role.
