Overview:
At Blackpool Transport Services, we are seeking to recruit a Tramway Overhead Infrastructure Assistant to join the team maintaining the overhead line infrastructure on our famous Blackpool Tramway.

You must be a positive, proactive, and driven individual who is reliable and diligent in their work. You must be able to operate under limited supervision in a team environment.

The successful applicant will work 36 hours per week, 4 days from 7 providing 24-hour cover to meet business needs.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Work under instruction to assist the Tramway Infrastructure team with the installation and maintenance of all tramway infrastructure to a professional standard to minimise asset downtime.

2. Drive overhead infrastructure vehicles and ensure that they are safe, roadworthy, clean, and fully stocked.

3. Assist with the performance of relevant switching programmes.

4. Identify problems and solutions to contribute to the achievement of the team’s objectives.

5. Use hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment, including mobile elevated work platforms.

6. Engage in continuous personal and professional development by actively seeking opportunities for learning and development in all aspects of the role.

7. Work closely and collaboratively with management, the extended engineering team, and other stakeholders to cultivate positive, trusting, and respectful relationships.

8. Liaise with other departments to meet targets and objectives.

9. Work within Health and Safety legislation and company policies at all times.

10. Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records.

11. Undertake training and work as required by business needs, which may include, but is not limited to:

- Operation of a forklift truck.
- Operation of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.
- Operation of rolling stock for the purpose of shunting and breakdown recovery.
- Any task required to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of the engineering function.

Qualifications:

- Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge and experience.
- Ability to work well within a team and on their own initiative with mínimal supervision.
- Comfortable working at height. Experience of operating MEWPS advantageous.
- Demonstrable health and safety knowledge.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and decisively.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good ICT skills.
- Willingness to undertake training required to develop within the role.
- Hold a current full UK Driving Licence.
- An LGV Class 2 Licence or willing to obtain.
