**JOB PURPOSE**

To support the Mayor in the performance of his/her official duties

**MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To be available to attend upon the Mayor (sometimes at short notice) in the performance of his/her official duties according to the demands of the mayoral diary, including during the evenings, at weekends and on public holidays.

To be prepared to undertake some outdoor working (eg, attendance at fayres, fetes, sporting events).

To drive the mayor to engagements held in the city and surrounding area..

To be responsible for the mayoral car, arranging for its cleanliness, road worthiness and servicing

To be responsible for the security, care and maintenance of the City’s Charters, Maces, civic plate and other historic treasures and to be a Guildhall key holder and to be responsible for the security of the building when undertaking mayoral duties outside normal office hours including setting/unsetting alarms

To support the Executive Assistant to the Mayor in her duties.

To take correct and appropriate actions/decisions at civic functions held during evenings and weekends on the occasions when no line management advice is available

To act as toastmaster at some civic events and to bear the Mace at certain civic ceremonial occasions.

To be responsible for the security of the chains of office, particularly when undertaking engagements in and around the city

To supervise casual Macebears at civic events when required..

Carry out any other duties as required by your line manager from time to time in accordance with the grading of the post.

Ability to work with people at all levels in an organisation

Strong organisational skills
