**Background and purpose of the role**:
The Plant Inspector is required to carry out the inspection of the plant to ensure compliance with the EKFB plant specifications and regulations. The role also requires checking of basic maintenance items e.g. fluids and safety equipment (see below for full attendances).

The Plant Inspector will report to the Plant Manager.

In so doing, the postholder will be instrumental in achieving the Company’s mission statement in accordance with the Company’s values which are available on our website:
**Accountability**:
Summary: You will be directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the plant is safe to operate and fully equipped to HS2 / EKFB standards prior to going to work as well as assisting with basic routine checking/maintenance as detailed below.

**Details**:

- PDI inspections on earthworks plant including on and off-hire records, taking of photos, noting machine hours, any existing damage, wear on tyres and GET.
- PDI inspections as above on 4x4’s, minibuses, and other site vehicles.
- Application of plant identification stickers where required.
- Checking of plant safety equipment including flashing lights, all-round vision cameras, dash cameras, reversing alarms
- Checking of lubes, grease pots, and other fluids.
- Greasing of plant/replenishment of grease pots where required.
- Routine weekly checking of tyre conditions, GET, and undercarriage wear.
- Assisting with problem diagnosis and reporting back issues to the Plant desk.
- Production of risk assessments / safe system of work for all related activities.
- Stock control of all fluids and maintenance of COSHH storage areas/workshop.
- Assist OEM staff with locating machines and basic repairs e.g. intra-service filter changes, bulb replacements etc.
- Replacing GET and cutting edges.
- Issue Maintenance Permits to Work to OEM / other personnel as required.

**Essential**:

- CSCS Green Card
- Full driving licence
- Experience of maintaining heavy plant
- Plant maintenance qualifications NVQ level 2
- CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card
- Physically fit and able to work in all weathers
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to write risk assessments and follow a safe system of work

**Desirable**:

- CPCS A68 card for Plant Mover
- Welding experience/qualification
- Detailed knowledge of Caterpillar, Volvo and Bomag equipment

**Salary**: Up to £45,000.00 per year
