We have a fantastic and exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join the Procurement team at Fresh-Pak Chilled Foods at our Barnsley facility.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the primary focus of the role will be to manage the procurement of a defined set of packaging /raw materials for the Fresh-Pak Waterside Facility.

**Other responsibilities will include (but not limited to)**:

- Delivery of Commercial contracts
- With mínimal management, lead the purchasing of a defined set of spend categories - ensuring the timely availability of materials at the best total cost position.
- Proactively manage pricing files and any invoice pricing queries
- Become the Market expert for defined category areas
- Reporting and Database Pricing Management

**- **Effectively support the management of redundant stock, keeping stock to a minimum and regularly report value and volume of redundant stock held at site and with suppliers
- Work to become the Subject Matter Expert for assigned Categories to provide support for NPD, Innovation and general business projects/enquiries. Direct input into the long and short-term business forecasting and budgeting for the materials under their management
- Bring Category innovation to the business to support a first to market ambition
- Provide weekly commentary for the weekly P&L meeting**:

- **A weekly review of PPV, stock holding, stock usage and other defined metrics is required for the department. The role holder is responsible for accuracy of these metrics reported for their categories and as such needs to ensure the accuracy of the figures in the relevant reports. (Purchasing Plans / Price Movements / PPV etc.)

**- **Proactively Investigate variances to deliver both an explanation and suggested resolution for business review
- Provide market commentary in support of any Price increase discussion

**Key skills, knowledge and experience required**:

- This role requires a professional, balanced and decisive individual who will service internal and external customers with swift and accurate service
- Retail / Food / FMCG experience advantageous
- Relevant professional qualifications or degree qualifications preferred - CIPS would be ideal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and at ease with both telephone and in-person contacts demonstrating the ability to influence and motivate
- Tenacity required when dealing with supplier negotiations - negotiation training will be provided were appropriate
- IT Skills - proficient at Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and High attention to detail

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £38,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

**Experience**:
