Pharmaceutical Manufacturer seeks an experienced Maintenance Engineer for its Hertfordshire based manufacturing facility.

**About the role**:
The company is seeking an experienced Multiskilled (mechanical and electrical) Engineer to support its factory in Hitchin. This is an autonomous, hands-on role supporting engineering activities in a factory manufacturing both Pharmaceutical and Food productsfrom botanical materials.

**Duties may include**:

- Day to day maintenance and improvement of processing equipment and utilities.
- The role is principally working alone or overseeing contractors (when required).
- Owning the PPM schedule and completing PPMs to the plan. Updating the plan as new equipment comes into the factory.
- To actively champion health and safety in engineering, ensuring that a safe working environment exists for all employees. Ensuring all non routine activity is covered by the site permit to work (PTW) system and that PTWs are completed and authorised forcontractor activity.
- Attending and repairing equipment breakdowns e.g. pumps, gearboxes, agitators and some specialist equipment including a pasteuriser, centrifuge and distillation equipment, in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.
- Supporting the site with general repairs in offices and labs as required.
- Completing paper GMP records or electronic records accurately detailing the work completed.
- Own the monthly calibration schedule and complete
- Completing regular tests and checks for utilities e.g. chemical checks on cooling water tower, boiler and HVAC system filter checks.
- Liaising with and overseeing external contractors for planned activities and breakdowns
- Working with suppliers to source replacement equipment/parts where repairs are not possible
- Raising Purchase Orders for any items required for either repair or improvement.
- Maintaining and keeping work area in good order e,g by adopting 5S standards.

**Skills and experience**:

- Excellent planning and organisational skills as well as good ability of working under pressure.
- Previous experience of working in a pharmaceutical or food (ideally beverage) processing environment is desirable.
- Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 minimum or demonstrated time served experience is essential.

**Hours of work**:
The company operate a rotational shift pattern covering 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm five days a week as well as a day shift from 7am to 4pm. This role will principally be on days, but flexibility will be required to support the factory including the workingof regular overtime.
