Security Porter

We are seeking a Floating shift Porter to work as part of a busy team to provide a quality Portering/Security service to the Trust, that will ensure that all patients and visitors are courteously assisted and directed in a manner that will reflect positively on the Trust. Ensuring that a safe crime free environment for staff, patients and visitors is always maintained.
To attend Incidents and to manage those effectively.
The duties of the floating shift porter are to be flexible in their work pattern and to cover planned and unplanned absences, including covering 24 hour shift patterns.

Portering Duties
- To ensure that all patients and visitors are courteously assisted and directed in a manner that will reflect positively on the service and the Trust.
- To escort patients by chair, trolley, bed or accompanying on foot in keeping with the current regulations, and to assist in movement of patients as required.
- To transport equipment, samples and specimens to medical areas as required.
- To deliver deceased patients to the mortuary and prepare deceased patients for viewing by their relatives on request, with proper respect for the patients’ dignity and in keeping with Trust policy.
- To help in the movement of furniture and its disposal, as requested.
- To change gas cylinders as requested.
- To take out of service, broken or faulty wheelchairs or trolleys and report faults to the manager or his deputies. To ensure all wheelchairs and trolleys are kept clean and in good working order.
- Any other duties as requested by the Manager or his Deputy.

Security Duties
- To ensure all calls for assistance made on the emergency call service are dealt with immediately by proceeding to the scene of the incident.
- To respond to, report and log all incidents. All incidents reported to or discovered by the Portering Security department will be investigated by the department and/or the police, as required by circumstances.
