**Responsible for**:The co-ordination ofall Volunteer Mentor activity in support of all charity operations.

**Main Role and Responsibilities**

Since 2014, Care after Combat have been providing support within the Justice System, for the well-being of former British Armed Forces personnel and their families. As part of this service, Volunteer Mentors have been an essential resource, delivering face-to-face support in line with our mentorship platform, Project Phoenix.

The role of Volunteer Mentor Coordinator is a new, and exciting opportunity, and the successful applicant will contribute to a critical area of expansion within Care after Combat operations. The volunteer mentor coordinator is a resource that will co-ordinate and enable service delivery, developing our network of volunteer mentors at local and national levels.

As the Volunteer Mentor Co-ordinator, you will be home based but will report to, and be fully supported by, the Operations Lead, based at the charity Headquarters in Newark. The role will be varied and include working with our Regional Co-ordinators to ensure the correct level of recruitment, training, and liaison in the respective regions.

**Duties can include but will not be limited to**:

- Lead Volunteer Mentor recruitment campaigns
- Media and Communication coordination
- Attend appropriate events / recruitment fairs.
- Refresh all Volunteer Mentor recruitment material.
- Respond to all enquires by prospective Volunteer Mentors.
- Recruitment facilitation
- Initiate and process DBS checks.
- Arrange and deliver Volunteer Mentor training days by region (travel to regions) along with Regional Coordinators
- Coordinate and monitor Mandatory Training completion.
- Work with the Regional Coordinators (Volunteer Mentor line managers) and Operations Lead to allocate mentees to Volunteer Mentors.
- Coordinate and log visit reports compiled by Volunteer Mentors.
- Arrange and lead on delivery of periodic Volunteer Mentor Forums and Annual Conference
- Collate data on Social Return on Investment (SROI) delivered by volunteers.
- Be the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for all Volunteer Mentor administration including Travel & Subsistence claims.
- Central HR lead for Volunteer Mentors
- Any other duties necessary to deliver this new service.

**Person Specification**
- **Essential Requirements**_
- Employment rights to live and work in the UK
- Have a full and clean driving license
- A Veteran or having relevant working experience with the Armed Forces or within the Criminal Justice System.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple diverse teams and grades
- Development of local networking across regions
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Provide high quality written reports and any other written documentation as and when required
- Experience of, or relevant skills to evidence confidence in, managing group work
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to network and negotiate with relevant outside agencies
- Able to accept responsibility and to respond confidently and calmly to complex and evolving problems
- Able to work on own initiative, self-motivate and progress own work to deadlines once guidelines have been set
- To be able to establish links with other charities, key individuals and services to share, develop and maintain best practice in the provision of services for veterans.
- Approachable, cooperative and respectful of others
- Strong commitment to team working
- Trustworthy, honest, ability to work automatously, take responsibility and demonstrates integrity.

- Previous experience of working in prisons
- Previous experience of working in collaboration with the NHS
- Experience of mentoring
- Experience of project managing
- Experience of conducting interviews
- Experience of managing volunteers
