We currently have a vacancy for an experienced handyperson for up to 36 hours per week.

A good level of general DIY/ building maintenance is required.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To carry out general maintenance including or example building and site repairs, fencing, painting, floor and wall tiling,
- To work in accordance with construction industry practices.
- To place and use dust sheets to protect areas from dust etc.
- To assist with the movement and reinstatement of furniture and fixtures as required on site.
- To work out the quality of materials needed for the job by taking surface measurements or by looking at job specifications.
- Maintain all statutory records and documents as instructed and required by the duties of the post.
- To work alongside, and support your colleagues
- To deal with small general items of repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior of the building; e.g. putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, moving furniture, cleaning lamp shades, cleaning windows.
- To carry out routine checks, repairs, and maintenance of household equipment, and the exterior of the building.
- To deal with blocked sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks.
- To be capable of using high pressure jetting machines, generators, and portable tools.

**General Responsibilities**
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training when required
- To attend any other training when a need has been identified
- To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives, and visitors
- To be familiar with all current policies and procedures and understand your duty to comply and implement them when necessary

**Health and Safety**
- To ensure that you work in a safe environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act
- To assist in the maintenance of a Safe and Healthy Working environment by understanding and ensuring adherence to the Homes Health and Safety Policy and Procedures including Fire
- To practice and promote safe working practices within the Home
- To take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions
- To be fully aware and comply with infection control policies and procedures and appropriate hand hygiene technique
- To report immediately to the Home Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another
- To report to the Home Manager any faults, damaged furniture, faulty appliances, equipment or any potential hazard
- The Home has a NO SMOKING or e-Cigarettes policy that applies to all posts within the Home. The grounds of the home are also NO SMOKING except in the designated smoking areas.

**Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- The ability to work flexible hours to meet the business needs
- Effective timekeeping and time management
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment
