Volunteer role:
Clean Team

Reports to:
Volunteer Services Manager

Commitment level:
Flexible usually one session a month for 3-4 hours

**Location**:
Stamford, Bourne, The Deepings at client home address

Purpose of the Voluntary role:
The purpose of the Clean Team is to restore, dignity, order and cleanliness to an older or vulnerable persons home when for any number of reasons it has fallen into squalor and become overwhelming for the resident. With the consent of the resident the Clean Team will do a one off ‘deep clean’ blitz. A clean and orderly environment is restored and this often will give the resident a huge positive boost to regain control over their domestic circumstances. After this one off clearance we will work with the resident to where possible put in longer term support. This volunteer work is physically demanding, sometimes in unpleasant settings, however it is very rewarding when you see the positive practical impact the service has and the difference it makes to the resident’s quality of life and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:
Do follow all Health & Safety Guidance

To wear the correct personal protective equipment and clothing

To not take any unnecessary risks or undertake any tasks that you are uncomfortable with

Ensure nothing is thrown away or removed from the property without the client’s permission

To maintain confidentiality at all times

To engage with Clean Team clients in a compassionate, diplomatic and sensitive manner.

Key relationships:
Working with other volunteers in the Clean Team

Working with residents

Working with Members of Evergreen Staff

Working alongside other Volunteer Groups within the Trust

Skills, Qualifications and experience required:
No specific experience is required - however the cleaning is physically demanding so a reasonable level of fitness is required. If you have a passion for cleaning and experience that would be excellent.

The ability to identify potential hazards, follow safety instruction on equipment and cleaning products is essential.

Ability to work in a team.

Training and support required:
Online Safeguarding training is compulsory.

Where applicable volunteers will receive training in operating industrial cleaning equipment and the use of other chemicals.

Guidance on lifting / moving small furniture if required

Mentoring from Lead Members

Availability of parking at work location:
Usually there will be parking at the residents address or nearby

Equipment:
All safety items provided, including masks, goggles, gloves, aprons and overshoes.
