Our sexual health service based in Clapham Junction is looking for a senior health advisor with proven leadership and management experience to lead its health advisor team based within our level 3 Hub.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering sexual healthcare to undifferentiated patients attending Integrated Sexual Health Clinics within South West London.

The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and operational management of the Health Advisor service ensuring high quality provision of the key services. They will lead on Partner Notification for the service. They are responsible and accountable in conjunction with the Nurse Clinical Lead for the total episode of care of the patient including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral as appropriate using Trust guidance.

- Work as an autonomous practitioner using higher level clinical knowledge and skills to manage individual episodes of care for both male and female patients, based on physical, social, psychological and emotional needs
- To provide advice, information, education and counselling to patients diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection
- Obtain a patient medical and sexual history in a systematic manner, including physical, social, emotional, psychological and environmental factors.
- Provide specialist care without direct medical supervision, using guidance documents.
- Demonstrate a high level of clinical decision-making and an ability to monitor and improve standards of care, working within his/her own scope of professional practice
- Make and accept referrals to and from other disciplines, departments, other NHS trusts and voluntary agencies.
- Provide leadership using higher level skills, knowledge and expertise supervising others as appropriate.
- Use clinical evidence to inform and develop clinical practice
- Manage resources effectively
- Support and develop health education and promotion strategies
- Have highly developed communication skills to provide care that is culturally sensitive and meets the needs of a diverse population
- To maintain complete clear and legible records of all clerical and legal documentation in accordance with policies and statutory requirements.
- Promote good practice and adopt a holistic approach to patient care at all times
