Job description - Support Worker - Torquay

Our client Next Step Independence is looking for new Support Workers to join their team who will work in their Semi-Independent homes. People with passion, drive and enthusiasm who want to make a difference to a child or young person’s life.

You will be part of a dedicated team of support workers, who work in our beautiful Semi-Independent homes in Mid Devon (Tiverton and Cullompton) and South Devon (Torquay and Newton Abbott) and you will be supporting young people (16 to 18) who for whatever reason, are unable to live at home with their families.

The children and young people we support have often experienced high levels of trauma, neglect, and crisis in their young lives, resulting in them experiencing complex challenges. This can lead to multiple home moves and instability, leaving them feeling insecure, scared and unwanted.

Part of your role will involve:

- Work directly with young people to support them on their journey to independence.
- Support them with the development of their personal, social, health, educational and employment needs.
- To support and encourage young people to identify and engage in a range of positive activities.
- To provide opportunities for young people to increase their self-esteem and engagement within the community.
- Act as a positive role model, recognising your own strengths, interests, or activities that you enjoy engaging in.

Their OTE starting salary is £30,393.60. This figure includes approx. 10 enhanced sleep-in a month. You will also receive a £400 welcome bonus

What do They require?
- You need to be over 21 years old
- A clean driving license and use of vehicle with business insurance
- Have a natural ability to care and to be able to empathise and to look beyond the individual or their challenging behaviours.
- To be confident, composed and level-headed.
- To be able to work as part of a close team.
