Government Grant funding plays an important role domestically, in areas such as education, research, civil society and innovation, as well as abroad through international aid projects. Grant spending accounts for around 16% of all UK Government expenditure (2021/22). Part of the Government Grants and Commercial Directorate, the Government Grants Management Function (GGMF) works to ensure that every pound of Government Grants annual spend (£172bn in 2021/22) makes a difference to the economy and to communities.

The Government Commercial and Grants Services (GCG Services) team works across two key Government Functions, the Commercial Function and the Grants Management Function. This is a key role working in our central business operations team leading on financial management across 4 cost centres and procurement support, supporting successful delivery against our aims and objectives.

We are looking for a well organised, delivery focused individual with the ability to operate effectively in a fast paced environment. This is a varied role which will require you to manage your time effectively, sometimes having to re-prioritise at short notice.

The role is based at our York office. The Cabinet Office currently operates a hybrid working policy, with an average of 40 - 60% of working time to be spent in your office location. On occasion you may be required to attend our other offices in London and Glasgow, for example, to attend in-person team meetings.

**Job description**:
This SEO role sits within the Management Hub, a team responsible for operational services (such as finance, recruitment and HR), governance, communications, and engagement for the Function and GCG Services. We work diligently to provide high quality services and support to all in the team in accordance with Cabinet Office policy and processes, and regulatory obligations.

**You will**:

- Facilitate the management of the budgets for the 4 cost centres, implement financial controls to manage the budget and support the profiling and forecasting throughout the year.
- Lead in supporting budget holders to monitor their budget spend across the financial year and profile accordingly.
- Own the updating of monthly spends for all 4 cost centres and ensure a high standard of customer service to budget holders.
- Monitor and report on key metrics such as pay, non-pay spend, contract spend, and any projected over or under spends. Maintain good data on the budgets and compile and present metrics to the Senior Leadership Team (Director and Deputy Directors) and the Deputy Director chaired Operations Board to support decision making.
- Maximise use of the Atamis system to accurately record our procurement pipeline, live procurement's and contracts.
- Lead in supporting contract managers to navigate and be compliant with Cabinet Office procurement processes.
- Present our commercial metrics to the Senior Leadership Team and the Operations Board to support decision making.
- The post holder may be required to undertake additional responsibilities as expected in relation to the role and grade. We will support further professional development.
