Cook

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Cook to join our friendly, busy nursery.

The successful applicant will prepare home cooked, nutritious meals for our children aged between 0 and 5 years.

They will be responsible for all production of food on the premises, and for ensuring policies and procedures are embedded and maintained.

The post will include:

- Cooking fresh, nutritious and appetising food for our children from Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm
- Checking dietary requirements at every meal
- Reviewing & developing our menu with the Nursery Manager
- Keeping the kitchen and all the appliances clean to a high standard
- Maintaining all paperwork relating to the kitchen
- promoting healthy eating
- Monitoring portion and waste control
- Ensuring that all policies & procedures are in compliance with Environmental Health & Ofsted guidelines and that all relevant records are kept in line with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Standards
- Helping to clean dining areas after use

You will:

- be passionate in your commitment to providing high quality food
- be a confident, creative cook who loves working with children, their families and as part of a team.
- be able to work competently, producing our snacks and meals punctually
- have a Min 2 years relevant experience, ideally in a nursery, school, care home or educational establishment
- have a good knowledge of food allergens & child nutrition and ability to work to the nursery budget for each child
- have previous experience in cooking to a commercial level / or a nursery kitchen
- have ideally, Cook/Catering qualification. Food hygiene certificate essential
