Phlebotomist

The phlebotomy Department is part of the Cancer and Clinical Services Division, supported by a clinical lead with the reporting line that goes through a Service Manager, General Manager. The overall performance and governance oversight is provided by a triumvirate comprising a Divisional Medical Director, Director of Operations and a Director of Nursing.
The job involves taking blood from patients on the wards, in outpatient clinics and in patient homes. The department is currently open from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm, with staff working various shift patterns.

Phlebotomists are Clinical Support Workers who are expected to work as part of a the team within a hospital environment and in the community. After appropriate training and demonstration of competence, they obtain blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by doctors, and train other healthcare workers to
become competent at venepuncture.
Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable. We are looking for a responsible, adaptable person with good communication skills who can cope with the workload within this busy department.
You will be expected to work on Saturday/Sunday mornings and Bank Holidays on a rota basis for which extra payment will be given.
This is mainly a cross-site role, and you will need to be a car owner/driver with a car available at all times and insured for business use, as some travel involves GP surgeries, Community clinics and patients' homes.
