Barco is one of the UK’s leading independent plumbing and heating distributors. We are currently looking to recruit a purchasing professional to join our procurement team, based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

This role would particularly suit somebody with one or two years’ experience in a similar role who is looking for the next step in their career.

**About the Procurement Specialist Role**

In this position you will be responsible for:

- Full account management and ownership of allocated suppliers, focusing on sales, cost, quality and delivery performance
- Driving continuous improvement, increasing turnover and alleviating supply risk, on quality, cost reduction, and lead times, by monitoring supplier performance, through evaluation and analysis
- Negotiating prices, shipping costs and creating supplier contracts by building a rapport with suppliers through regular meetings
- Monitoring and maintaining adequate stock levels, forecasting stock, ordering stock and raising purchase orders
- Ensuring cost and selling prices are aligned, focusing on margins
- Promoting the introduction of new products, opportunities and trends, through the continued awareness of the market, new products and competitors
- Regular meetings with suppliers to discuss slow moving/obsolete stock and product range development
- Ensuring agreed supplier terms are utilised (i.e. minimum order quantities, bulk cost savings etc)
- Working closely with goods in and accounts department to promptly resolve supplier delivery discrepancies
- Continual maintenance of data for stock items, including prices, minimum order quantities, descriptions, product data sheets, product information sheets, packaging data and general product information
- Notifications to customers of price increases using excel calculations to determine percentage increases, sales margin loss and system uploads.
- Reviewing KPI reports and other ad hoc reports, as required by the purchasing function.
- Any other reasonable task as directed by the Purchasing Manager

**Your Experience/Abilities**:

- Experience within the purchasing/procurement function (either at a lower or higher level)
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess and interpret different types of data
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with accuracy and attention to detail
- Problem solving skills
- Knowledge or ability to acquire rapidly, company systems, product and market knowledge
- Excellent IT skills covering Excel, Word, Outlook and CRM systems
- Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing workloads
- Sound numeracy skills
- Highly self-motivated and driven to achieve targets
- A willingness to increase product knowledge through training and education
- Educated to a recognized level of education - with qualifications in English Language & Maths
