Weekend Caretaker

Based - Colwyn Bay

**Salary**: - £11,607 - £12,811.50

**Purpose of the Job Role (Job Statement)**

To be responsible for the overall safety and security of the school, and to act as a first point of contact for commercial customers

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

Key duties:

- Be responsible for the welcoming of commercial clients, facility bookings, giving access to relevant properties / parts of the site and securing on departure
- To communicate efficiently with all other members of staff, visitors, commercial clients, and on-site contractors
- To perform lock and unlock duties including alarming relevant buildings and responding to alarm activations
- To respond pro-actively to staff & visitor requests, with a can-do attitude to resolving any issues or problems
- To monitor the presence of contractors working within the estate
- Report and monitor Health & Safety issues and ensure a safe working practice is
- adhered to.
- Ensure that all spillages and rubbish is cleared away immediately and that all areas of the building are clean and tidy
- To be flexible and carry out any additional duties as directed
- To complete and remain up to date mandatory Training
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with team members,

onsite staff, visitor, and commercial customers.
- Take personal responsibility for understanding and following the school's

Health & Safety policies and practices, demonstrating personal engagement with

safety and proactively identifying risks and hazards and reporting to the Estates Manager along with reporting any repairs and maintenance required
- You will also be expected to undertake building checks, helping with the general upkeep of the buildings and minor domestic tasks as and when required
- To assist the Estates Team during Fire and other emergency evacuations
- Control access to the buildings and grounds
- Respond to any emergency appropriately
- To maintain effective records of all security incidents that have occurred on site and update the Estates manager as required
- Be aware that at times, you will be the first and main point of contact representing the School and therefore must present and communicate well
- Be able to handle day -to-day matters in a prompt and professional manner.
- Be prepared for, decision-making and-problem solving in the absence of supervision on an occasional basis
- Be familiar with Safeguarding requirements as outlined in the Safeguarding Policy and comply with its requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults
- Participate in training and team development activities, to develop and update skills

and knowledge

- Understand and be committed to the School’s Health and Safety Policy

statement and the School’s safety priorities and be aware of his/her

contribution to such priorities

**Indicative knowledge, skills and experience**

**Qualifications**
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Essential: full UK Driving licence

**Experience / Knowledge**
- Be knowledgeable and experienced in general Caretaking duties
- Previous practical experience of Caretaking related field is desirable
- Be aware of Health and Safety issues in relation to security matters

**Skills**
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Basic Computer literacy and skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise
- Hold a valid driving licence for motor cars

**Safeguarding**:

- To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by our client as outlined in the school’s Safeguarding Policy
- To assist staff in the day to day implementation of the school Visitor Policy
- To carry out designated school fire evacuation role and adhere to fire evacuation procedure in the event of a fire and during a fire drill
- To adhere to the school Health and Safety Policy and procedure.
