Ruskin Mill engages the students in practical skills therapeutic education (PSTE) and provides social enterprise opportunities for students working on the farm, growing biodynamic produce for the college kitchens, residential provision and the farm shop.

You will be responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of teaching and learning for the students within Gable’s Farm, Ruskin Mill College. Gables Farm is a 40-acre farm with a mixed range of farm animals. You will be working with a small group of students, delivering land-based qualifications, animal husbandry skills and other land
- based activities throughout the season and be an active member of the farm team. You should feel comfortable and willing to work closely with all types of farm animals (in-house training/guidance will be given) and tractor based work (external training provided for tractor, and internal guidance).

You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.

Applicants for this post should have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties and have a teaching qualification or a willingness to work towards this. An appreciation of Biodynamic principles is required, however, training will be provided, as the applicant will take part in the Ruskin Mill Trust 2 years Biodynamic Training Programme.

Ruskin Mill Trust supports staff development and provides a large amount of training; all staff will be provided with an interactive induction, which enables staff to experience the student journey.
