This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, organised individual to develop their research skills and master a suite of state of the art behaviour change skills in a fast moving, exciting, national research project aiming to transform care for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). We are seeking to recruit a motivated individual with a BSc (Hons) in a relevant health care profession or psychology degree, who will work closely with a multidisciplinary team undertaking quality improvement projects to develop services which support greater self-management behaviour in adults with CF. The role will also involve working closely with CF patients to support their use of online behaviour change software (CFHealthHub). We are delighted that nearly 200 CF patients at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust have now consented to be on CFHealthHub and we are looking to continue the progress made at the CF centre to embed CFHealthHub into routine CF care.

The post-holder will be an integral part of the national CFHealthHub research team and also the local CF clinical team, leading the co-ordination of the CFHealthHub project on a day to day basis at the local site. You will be required to develop excellent relationships with colleagues and patients who will be invited to use CFHealthHub as part of routine care and who may require support to use the software.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to develop excellent relationships with colleagues and
patients who will be invited to use CFHealthHub as part of routine care and who may require support to use the software.

Working for our organisation

In addition to the below summary you need to familiarise yourself with full job description and person specification documents attached to this advert.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) awarded a £2 million programme grant to a national group of multi-disciplinary Health Services Researchers to develop a digital behaviour change intervention called CFHealthHub. CF is an inherited disease and people with CF need to use medications daily to stay healthy, but as with other chronic diseases, adherence to medication is low. We designed an intervention (CFHealthHub) to help adults with CF see how much treatment they use. In partnership with a trained CFHealthHub clinician, CFHealthHub has modules that can support people with CF to build successful treatment habits. We tested whether CFHealthHub is more effective than usual care in a randomised controlled trial (RCT) in 19 hospitals (or sites) in the UK, which completed in June 2019. The results were published in 2021 and work has been ongoing to integrate CFHealthHub into CF centres involved in the CFHealthHub learning health system through funding from the NHS England Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN).
