This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in perusing a career in software development who may not necessarily have coding experience.

As a key member of the software development process, prepare and execute software testing plans to ensure that new and upgraded systems meet the user requirements and are fit for purpose.
Liaise with key system users across the Health Board to gather and analyse requirements in order to inform development plans for business critical clinical systems.
Produce accurate and unambiguous user requirement documentation to the agreed standards.
Assist in the planning and execution of system implementations.
Offer expert systems advise to junior members of the team.
Assist in the exploitation of technology throughout the Health Board and facilitate the realisation of benefits identified from the introduction of new technology.

General Management
Actively promote electronic working at all levels within the Health Board to support organisational development and service modernisation plans.
Management of Services, Resources and Policy

Ensure that requirement specifications for new IT solutions and enhancements are in line with the needs of the business.

Devise and update user documentation including confidentiality & data standards.

Devise new and amend existing user support procedures as necessary.

Assist in performing post implementation quality assurance checks.
Develop and review training courses on the use of patient systems used in the Health Board

Maintain a good understanding of the strategic direction for Digital Services within the Health Board.

Ensure any documentation provided to users as part of training sessions is up to date and relevant.

Ensure users are made aware of Health Board approved E-Policies when receiving any training.

Planning
Ensure that scheduled work is completed on time and complies with the agreed quality standards.

Required to plan, organise and provide accurate timescales for a range of activities which will impact on the implementation of business-critical functionality.

Assist in the assessment of the business and information requirements of the organisation, in order to develop solutions to improve healthcare processes and provide clinical benefit.

Be an active member of any project teams set up for the implementation and support of systems, with responsibility for carrying out project tasks within agreed timescales and resources.

Analytical and Judgemental Skills
Requirement to concentrate for long periods when analysing data.

Analyse user requirements and assess the need for software modifications, configuration changes etc and advise on their prioritisation.

Meeting users to discuss requirements.

Assist in identifying possible solutions.

Producing user specifications

Undertake software testing to ensure robust systems implementations.

Report all faults via the testing software.

Meet with developers on a regular basis to highlight system issues and agree system modifications.

Monitor, retest and approve system changes for general release.

**Delivery of training sessions will include**:
New user training and set up (software installation & user accounts)

Specific modular based training

Refresher training

Data standards training

System modification training

Provide expert system administration support for patient systems such as Signal, TOMS, EPOA, Health Forms, PIMS+,. These duties include:
Resolving day to day system issues arising from service desk incidents.

Manually resolving database inconsistencies across a number of key database tables.

Identifying and troubleshooting system bugs and errors

Maintenance of user accounts including the set up of new users and deletion of users.

Reviewing and updating system documentation as appropriate including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) & Systems Security Policy (SSP) in conjunction with the Trust’s IT System Management Team.
