**Role Overview**

The General Operative (Phase 2/3 Compost) is a multi-skilled operative working on plant and machinery in a modern production environment producing mushroom compost. They work as part of the team that conduct the filling and spawning of the phase 2 tunnels, and the emptying and dispatch of compost at phase 3. The role will be part of a dual shift, 4 days on 3 off, providing 7 day a week cover for phase 2 and 3.

**Main Duties**
- Carry out all duties in phase 2 & 3 of the composting process centred on filling compost into and emptying it out of purpose built tunnels and setting up and operating specialist machinery for these operations
- Routine hygiene of all equipment and work areas at all key stages of the process
- Operate other plant required in the operation including fork lift trucks, genie boom and scissor lift - training will be provided
- Maintain specialist equipment supplied individually for the role
- Ensure any breakdowns or problems are resolved quickly and efficiently as possible, working closely with the maintenance team
- Maintain Health, Safety and Hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations

- Competence in English speaking
- Flexibility in relation to working hours

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Full driving licence & own transport
- Relevant experience in a similar industry
