**Job overview**:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in our Minor Injuries Unit at Newquay Community Hospital.

This is a developmental MIU Practitioner post or MIU Practitioner Band 6 post and we are interested in interviewing both Practitioners who able to work in an practice role in minor illness and paediatrics and also aspiring Practitioners with at least two year post registration experience who would like to develop further** and **are already undertaking or aspire to undertake a relevant minor injuries and illness course.

A passion for minor injury care, good communication skills, and a commitment to work in an MIU team delivering high quality care are all essential. You must be responsive to change, flexible in your approach and have a sound knowledge of professional issues.

The MIU currently operates from 8am - 8pm/10pm covering a 7-day service and is committed to delivering high quality care to the local population, which exhibits a marked increase in patient-attendance during the holiday period. To meet operational capability, there is opportunity to work in surrounding MIUs to meet demand.

**Main duties of the job**:
Band 6 MIU Practitioner:
To deliver, without supervision, effective assessment and treatment of patients utilising evidence based approach. Responsible for the care needs, the management of treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, reflecting the needs of patients attending this Unit.

Responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in unit

Band 5 MIU Practitioner (Development Post):
To deliver, under supervision, effective minor injury services to patients utilising an evidence-based approach.

Responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in a practitioner-run MIU. Appropriate supervision will be provided by Band 6/7 MIU practitioners.

Band 5 MIU Practitioner (Development Post) applicants must have at least two years post registration experience.
