We are recruiting aBand 7 Specialist Enhanced Support Midwife on a fixed 1 year contract to cover maternity leave to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward thinking, professional team which serves a wide geographical area with rural and urban communities.

PROMPT course

Support from Practice Development Team

You will work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care. You will provide a link between maternity and other services, based on a woman’s individual needs in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. You will work closely within the Specialist Midwife Team across the Trust, supporting each other to care for women with multiple complexities.

You must be experienced in Safeguarding, both Early Intervention and Child Protection.

You will work with all members of the multi professional team, in conjunction with the named midwife, to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant and new mothers who require enhanced support. Developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and their families. You will be responsible for coordinating specialist support in order to optimise maternal and fetal outcomes.

You will be reliable, flexible, motivated, have excellent clinical skills, a commitment to on-going learning and development, a commitment to delivering high quality care, and be willing and open to embracing positive change and transformation in order to meet the demands of the community we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife who has knowledge and familiarity of working with women requiring enhanced support. You must be committed to providing the best birth experience possible for this client group, which often encompasses additional complex vulnerabilities. This will include improving identification of issues, maximising engagement with all services, being a source of advice for other professionals and delivering relevant training within mandatory sessions.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)in Lancaster, and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal.

FGH and RLI have a range of hospital services and consultant led services. WGH offers a birth-centre option for women.
