About the team:
The Underwriting department supports the Bank by assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against this risk and any losses. At Fareham, we specialise in Commercial mortgages and Commercial Bridging with strong market knowledge, a diagnostic approach and ability to give dependable decisions, the team take a common-sense approach to manual underwriting.

What you will be doing:
No two days are the same; you will be managing complex deals and making manual decisions. Your understanding of commercial valuations will be vital to your success in this role and there are development opportunities (exception mandates) or progression into management (if the opportunities are available).

Your responsibilities will include:

- Reviewing agreement in principle requests promptly.
- Communicating with intermediaries and solicitors by telephone and in writing.
- Working closely with the Sales team to take consideration of time pressures and customer journey.
- Supporting the management with the implementation of policy.
- Contributing to underwriting team meetings giving the benefit of your experience.
- Managing escalations and resolving technical queries from other team members.

In return for your commitment:
We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £42,000 - £48,000 (dependent on level of experience) and a competitive benefits package including:

Could you be the one?:
We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience/knowledge and qualifications set out below:

- Strong mandated mortgage underwriting experience within a UK financial operation (including Commercial, BTL and Residential lending is essential.
- Previous experience of creating loan recommendation documents and delivering them to an Executive Committee or Leadership Team is essential.
- Detailed level of knowledge of the FCA/PRA regulations regarding residential mortgages is desirable.
- Detailed knowledge of the Data Protection Act, Anti-Money Laundering, MCOBS and MMR is essential.
- Detailed knowledge of the Knowledge and Competence requirements of the Mortgage Credit Directive.
