**Category Buyer - Paper/Ink + Toner or Office Supplies**

**West Midlands (remote)**

**£35,000 - £40,000**

Grafton UK are currently recruiting exclusively on behalf of an expanding e-commerce business in the West Midlands area to source a commercially astute Category Buyer to work closely with the Category Manager on the product assortment across various categories.

This role will suit a Junior Buyer / Junior Category Specialist who is hungry and driven, looking to take the next step in their career.

**Responsibilities of the Category Buyer**:

- As part of the overall business strategy develop the assortment and contribute to the sales strategy for designated product categories and implementing them properly on timely manner.
- Product assortment build ,development and improvement based on market trends and customer needs
- Negotiate purchasing contracts with suppliers to improve company margin results whilst always protecting the company interests
- Create good working relationships with suppliers to maximise supplier support both financially and through 'soft' support such as provision of enriched content and marketing support.
- Obtaining best prices and continually improving payment terms from suppliers
- Finding new supplier alternatives both locally and from International markets, whilst maintaining product quality targets
- Supporting the Inventory team to maximise the supplier performances to contribute to hit the stock turnover targets and improve supply performance
- Support Merchandising management by ensuring quality product content and product visuals made available by supplies
- Identification of right product selling value propositions based on market needs and implementation
- Ongoing Product / Category sales and margin performance analysis against monthly/ yearly budgets, taking action to improve performance where necessary
- Utilize web analytics, data analytics and performance marketing tools to gain insights to improve product performance
- Working with the UK Category Manager and Pricing analyst to ensure completive pricing v key competitors within agreed indexing strategy
- Following the market and competition data to propose and then implement competitive sales opportunities
- Contribute to strategies to enable the product sales mix to be made from more profitable product groups
- Investigate and propose new business development opportunities on existing categories/products based on changes in customer expectations and competitor analysis
- Support the development and implementation of private brand strategy and ensuring compliance with UK regulatory needs
- Contribute to activities to improve packaging practices and product specs of product groups in the relevant categories

**Ideal Category Buyer**:

- University Graduate or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience working in a Buying/Category management role in a National or International, Multi-Channel B2B and /or Online B2C business
- Experience of managing product ranges within the Office / Business Supplies market would be an advantage
- Track record of negotiating buying contracts as well as building strong working relationships with product suppliers.
- Respectful, self-confident, and strong character with a hands-on approach to all tasks
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and economically.
- Flexible approach to prioritisation and a team player.
- Strong organizational ability and detailed.
- Dynamic, energetic, and positive minded character
- Innovative and creative, with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Articulate, with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

**Benefits**:
Attractive salary of £35,000-£40,000 (dependant on experience)

Mainly remote with 1-2 days in HQ in West Midlands

25 days holidays
