Oldham CAMHS Team are looking to recruit an experienced qualified mental health Nurse or social worker to provide mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions for young people who present with mental health difficulties/disorders and more specifically those with emotional behavioral difficulties (EBD).The practitioner will be able to offer adapted evidence based therapeutic interventions to support young people’s mental health needs and move towards recovery.

This is a full-time substantive role working with children and families presenting with a range of mental health challenges, and the post offers a breadth of opportunities for you to develop and hone core clinical skills in assessment, formulation, therapy, consultation and supervision of others.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the assessment of mental health difficulties and provide evidence based therapeutic adapted interventions to children and young people.

There will be the opportunity to develop individual and group therapeutic offers for young people and their families.

The successful applicant will have the ability to assess and provide intervention with young people on the EBD pathway working alongside the attachment pathway as well. The practitioner will lead on the DBT offer as well. Please note the successful practitioner if not trained in DBT will be expected to attend training for DBT once in post

The applicant will have an ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team and be responsible for their own caseload.

The applicant should be confident in providing advice and consultation to others and be willing to offer supervision to staff within the service

Children’s mental health and emotional well-being is a key priority locally and Oldham benefits from strong multi-agency networks and creative approaches to service delivery. Other CAMHS-linked services in place include our Early Attachment service and the Mental Health Support Team, with other projects also in development.

We offer a robust supervision structure and development opportunities in terms of psychological therapies training within the trust and opportunities to access specialist training in line with your own and the team’s needs.
- To ensure high quality CAMHS assessment of children and families of the service
- To provide specialist psychological assessments for children and young people referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data form a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi
- structured interview
- To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of children and young people’s mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the children and young people’s problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy
- To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers and families and groups, adjusting and refining formulations
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people whose problems are managed by psychologically based plans
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual children and young people and to provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management
