**Apprentice Administrator**

Channel View Medical Group is a large, friendly, busy practice with approximately 17,500 patients. We have a team of 75+ staff covering clinical and non-clinical roles. We are based over 4 sites two sites in Teignmouth, one site in Bishopsteignton and one site at Chudleigh. All employees are expected to show a high standard of teamwork. This includes cooperating in undertaking the work of absent colleagues or assisting others where the workload is particularly high. Accordingly, there may be a requirement to undertake other duties.

**What will the apprentice be doing?**

To work as part of the administration team providing support to the Clinical and Management teams.
- Dealing with correspondence from patients and other health care professionals
- Carrying out tasks and requests from GPs, nurses, and other members of the team
- Checking and sending of GP and nurse referrals
- Communicating with patients regarding results and future/follow-up appointments
- Making and receiving telephone calls
- Provide front of house reception services
- Processing prescription requests and new patient registrations
- Scanning and filing patient correspondence
- Retrieve and re-file medical records as required

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**

Training will be on the job, and an experienced member of staff will work closely with the Apprentice and pass on their knowledge and skills. There will also be computer-based training on a variety of modules within “Blue Stream Training”.

Business Admin level 3 Apprenticeship with Clinical Coding embedded provided by PMA Ltd. Functional Skills in Maths and English will also be included unless exempt.

**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**

Having gained a year’s worth of work experience and a qualification as a business administrator, you would be able to work as an administrator in the primary care sector with this practice.

**Annual wage**

£13,650

**Working week**

The role is full time, 37.5 hours per week. The practice is open from 8.30am to 6.15pm Monday to Friday. The Apprentice will be expected to work regular shifts, within those hours, Monday to Friday. The exact pattern will be agreed on the appointment.
