A SARC is a client focused, ‘one stop’ location where victims of serious sexual assault or rape can receive medical care, access to a high standard of forensic examination and support - whilst at the same time or in the future (if this is their choice) having the opportunity to assist the Police investigation into alleged offences.

Benefits offered by a SARC include a victim led service, an increase in overall victim confidence and potential improvements in emotional and mental well-being. Recent evaluations of existing SARCs noted a number of distinct and valuable benefits to victims, both male and female.

The Crisis Workers will be responsible for providing an out of hours support service for the Sexual Assault Referral Centre. You will provide support and information to clients at the point of crisis using a victim centred approach. The Crisis Workers will assist the Forensic Medical Examiner following a serious sexual assault and accompany clients throughout a forensic medical examination.

You will require Crisis Care experience or similar, to include supporting or working with clients at risk of harm in extremely difficult and sensitive circumstances. You will need highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels. You will also need experience of working in an environment where attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality are essential.

Contracts will be offered on a casual zero hours basis for out of hours cover. You will be engaged on an “as and when required” basis. There is no guarantee of the amount of work you will receive whilst on the register of casual workers.

**It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- Crisis care experience to include supporting or working with clients at risk of harm, in extremely difficult and sensitive circumstances (health care, alcohol or substance misuse, child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse or equivalent area) in a pro-active, sympathetic and compassionate manner
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels and work with victims and internal/external partners in complex and demanding situations and maintaining effective relationships with partner agencies
- Proven experience of working in an environment where accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality are required
- Proven experience of assessing risk, safety planning and advising on support measures
- Proven problem solving and organisational skills with the ability to effectively organise own workload to defined deadlines
- Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions, with mínimal supervision at the point of crisis, and as part of a small team - while knowing when to refer to others
- Ability to travel, including to remote locations and at short notice

**It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- Proven experience of working in any related discipline i.e. victims of Child Protection, Domestic Abuse or Sexual Abuse in a statutory, voluntary or multi agency environment and knowledge of health care pathways

Hours of work are from 17:00 TO 09:00 WEEKDAYS. 07:00 TO 19:00/ 19:00 TO 07:00 WEEKENDS AND BANK HOLIDAYS

This post is offered on a **casual zero hours** basis.
