We are on the search for a **Youth Worker **to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of a disadvantaged group of young people. We are looking for someone who is passionate, committed and understands the issues facing local young people.
**The role**
In this role you will assist the Youth Worker in Charge to run afternoon sessions two afternoons per week for young people from the Gypsy Roma Traveller community at the Piddlehinton Camp, help plan and deliver an exciting programme of activities, organise some activities yourself, ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people attending, and maintain accurate records.
The sessions are 16:00 to 18:00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (not Christmas, Easter and Summer school holidays).
Pay will be £10.42 per hour. Holiday pay of £1.26 per hour will be paid in addition. Traveling expenses from Dorchester to Piddlehinton will be paid.
There may be opportunities to work additional hours on our weekday evening Youth Club sessions at the Centre in Dorchester and on other projects during the day. We currently have projects to support young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). We also have a project to conduct Outreach work in Dorchester.
**The charity**
Dorchester Youth and Community Centre has been run by a charitable trust since September 2016. We aim to provide a truly inclusive, fun and safe place where young people can spend time with their friends and participate in fun activities. We are also committed to providing support to disadvantaged groups in the community including the Gypsy Roma Traveller community.
