Tayside Region, United Kingdom Scottish Action for Mental Health Full time

Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

**For Scotland’s Mental Health**

**Post: Bank Relief Support Workers**

**Ref: REC1433**

**Location: Dundee Care at Home Service**

**Hours: Variable**

**Salary: £12.00 per hour**

**Contract: Bank Relief**

**About the Role**

SAMH has a well established reputation for delivering excellent support to people with mental health problems throughout Dundee. Our Care at Home service has a purpose built specialist supported accommodation project in the heart of the city. We are seeking outstanding and motivated people to deliver the service and provide support to people with enduring mental illnesses and complex needs to regain their independence and improve their self-resilience and self-management skills.

**What we are looking for**

Respect and dignity for the people who use our services is at the heart of everything we do. We will ask you to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme, and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We’re looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations. Ideally for this role you will have experience supporting people with mental health problems, key-working and case management.

Everyone we support is different and we use individually tailored plans to help them to identify where their strengths lie and support them in the areas where they may need it. In this role your attitude and personality matter as much as your skills and experience. We are looking for initiative, compassion, energy and determination and the ability to motivate and inspire people who use our services to develop their skills and self-confidence and realise their aspirations. This is an exciting opportunity and you will go home each day knowing you made a difference.

We are looking for people that can provide availability for a variety of shift patterns. Our service operates 24/7 and as such, the post will involve a variety of shift patterns, including evening, weekends, waking night shift and on-calls.

**What we will provide for you**

You will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities. You will be given the chance to develop your knowledge and skills, as well as develop professionally. Some of our benefits include:

- Reimbursement of SSSC annual fees and registration costs.
- Funded continuous learning and development opportunities, access to over 100 courses online in addition to classroom and virtual training sessions
- Team wellbeing budgets
- Workplace pension scheme
- Life Assurance policy
- Employee Assistance Programme

Applications are welcome from people who have experienced mental health difficulties.
