About the role
The Senior Transport Planner will organise and supervise a team of passenger transport planners in order to efficiently process transport requests along with establishing eligibility for transport whilst achieving best value for the Council and at the same time maintaining the required standard of provision.

The post holder will provide professional expertise and knowledge to support the delivery of the transport service so that it is efficient and suitable to meet the needs of the service users.

Good interpersonal and analytical skills are essential, including the ability to explain eligibility decisions to Officers, Schools and members of the public.

What will you be doing?

You will use your previous experience and provide professional expertise and knowledge to support the delivery of the transport service so that it is efficient and suitable to meet the needs of the service users.

About you
You will be expected to supervise and lead your team to determine the most efficient way to fulfil the demand for Home to School Transport whilst maintaining a high standard and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

Your experience will enable you to propose transport solutions firmly based on policy guidance whilst taking account of the applicant’s personal circumstances. This may involve speaking directly with transport applicants and conducting home visits.

Your attention to detail will assist you to work within agreed SLA’s and relevant legislation and ensure that all appropriate audit trails are maintained.

You will need to work effectively and with empathy with a wide range of stakeholders including schools, service users, social workers, parents and policy makers in order to develop awareness and understanding of issues and identify possible solutions which will reduce reactive queries and complaints. You must be able to work and communicate effectively with NNC staff at all levels, Councillors and members of the public.
