Supplier Quality Engineer required for a global manufacturing company based in Clevedon.

The salary range is £30K to £34K.
The purpose of the role is to keep the Suppliers' quality of parts under control through pro-active approach, monitoring Suppliers' production processes, whilst seeking continuous improvement.
Purpose of the Role:

- Validation and follow-up of process control of Suppliers
- Reach DPPM target for each supplier / commodity
- Continuously improve Supplier quality through pro-active approach (e.g. PPAP, Quality audits, improvement action plans, etc)
- Investigate, analyse, and resolve Supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analysing defect trends and initiating continuous improvement projects
- Foster a good working relationship throughout the supply chain

Main Duties:

- Working within the Procurement teams to ensure Supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions through 8D reporting
- Act as quality point of contact for build lines, including co-ordinating material review teams and managing returns
- Analyse data and information on allocated non-conformance issues and identify improvement opportunities
- Establish specific short
- and long-term Supplier Quality goals
- Train and coach Supplier to improve aspects of their business performance
- Instruct and support Suppliers in the Copy Exact process ensuring the company comply with Customers contractual requirements
- Assist problem solving/corrective action teams by cross functional coordination between suppliers, designers and internal Quality functions
- Carry out inspection activities at Supplier site
- Effectively manage undeclared supplier non-conformance, containment, and stock issues
- Overall responsibility for Supplier Quality Control activities and champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with Suppliers and Customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformance
- Take lead in supplier quality improvement programs (identity action plan and get it implemented)
- NCR handling and close follow-up with suppliers

Skills and Experience:

- Sound engineering experience with clear basic knowledge of manufacturing processes / environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge and skills of part measurements
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Experience of quality standards such as ISO9001, APQP, SPC, PPAP, quality tools is essential
- Knowledge of various quality system methodologies, such as: SPC, PPAP, 8D, Lean, 5 Why's, Pareto analysis, 6-Sigma, 8D, FMEA, Cause & Effect quality tools is beneficial
- Very good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes such as electromechanical assembly, fabrication, castings, machining; including knowledge of defects and remedies for the processes
- Knowledge of Supplier Quality, process improvements and problem solving through regular supplier site visits
- Must have a valid driving license and be able to travel, including international travel
