Electrical Supervisor

The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of electrical technicians. This role involves providing technical guidance in executing assigned electrical tasks on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements. The Electrical Supervisor plays a crucial role maintaining and improving electrical systems, equipment and facilities within the Engineering Solutions Business Unit

- Electrical Technician(s)
- Electrical Apprentice(s)
- 3rd Party Electrical Resources - When working in the yard
**Key Result Areas**
1. Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of electrical technicians.
- Project Management Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
2. Project Management:
- Plan and organize daily work schedules for the electrical technician team.
- Prioritize tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient project execution.
3. Technical Oversight:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems, equipment, and installations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, providing technical expertise.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal system performance.
4. Safety Compliance:
- Enforce and promote adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
- Conduct safety training and drills for the electrical technician team.
- Investigate and report any accidents or safety incidents.
5. Quality Assurance:
- Implement and monitor quality control measures for electrical installations and repairs.
- Conduct inspections to ensure work meets industry standards and specifications.
- Address and resolve any quality-related issues promptly.
6. Budget Management:
- Assist in the development of budgets for electrical projects.
- Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or quality.
7. Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments, project managers, and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and address any challenges.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of tasks and expectations.
8. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Prepare reports on electrical system performance and project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with documentation and reporting requirements.
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**
- To follow the process of continuous improvement and to demonstrate a continuous improvement approach towards all processes, products and tasks within their role, to maintain and report key performance indicators, and to act as required to ensure agreed performance standards and expectations are achieved or excelled.
- To show commitment to HSEQ and to set good personal examples on HSEQ issues within their area of operation and influence. Required to report all accidents and near misses to their line manager, and to always lead by example and set high standards in all aspects of their role.
- To actively participate in all aspects of HSEQ awareness, education, training and communication. Accountable for stopping a job if perceived that it is not safe to progress for personnel or the equipment/ product, or if not adhering to MDL standards or procedures.
- To encourage the team to challenge internal and external processes, procedures and methodologies to improve the MDL offering.
- To actively encourage innovation within the team, driving ideas form back-deck operations through the organisation.
- To maintain good relationships with clients and other stakeholders as well as to act as an MDL ambassador at all times.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Level 3 SVQ and Summit Skills Modern Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation or HNC in Electrical Engineering
- Must be able to understand electrical schematic drawings
- Experience of managing direct reports (preferable)
- Knowledge of following processes and procedures of a business
- Good level of secondary education (Essential)
- Read and write English (mandatory)
- Computer literate (Essential)
- Familiar/ competent in all Microsoft packages including Outlook, Projects, Excel, Word & SharePoint
- Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated
- Willingness to learn & adapt
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Attention to detail
- Proactive and decisive
- Able to innovate and challenge
- Self-driven and results orientated
- Trustworthy and approachable
- Flexible and adaptable recognising the need to frequently operate to tight timelines and under pressure
**Work Location**
Work is primarily in the UK office in Cove, Aberdeen with travel as required to other MDL and client locations.
