**About the Vacancy**
As the Head of Technical, you will play a vital role in the site leadership team, reporting directly to the site director. You will lead all aspects of technical including food safety, compliance, quality, and hygiene teams, whilst advising, leading, and driving improvements in line with the site and divisional priorities. The roles also encompasses driving a food safety and quality culture as well as strong focus on team coaching and development.
This role would suit a Senior Technical Manager who is ready to progress to the next step; or an existing HoT that is ready to take on a more significant role.
There is strong overall site, divisional and group technical support, which has been strongly recognised by our customers, so you do not have to feel you have to go it alone. The site has also taken on significant new business with ASDA & M&S so there is plenty of exciting projects taking place.
There is plenty of opportunity for personal development as well as a structured development programmes.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Provide technical leadership for site based technical, quality & hygiene teams.
- 4 direct reports (Technical Manager, Technical Services Manager, Hygiene Manager and Senior Animal Welfare Officer)
- Make decisions based on facts/data and sound technical knowledge
- Liaise closely with department managers, divisional and group technical to share best practice and always ensure that the companies, customers and industry standards are maintained.
- Build and maintain customer relationships on an ever-expanding customer base
- Review quality and food safety trend analysis allowing generation of robust improvement plans and continue to delight our customers every day
- Ensure that the Technical Team has the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out their role effectively. Identify development and training needs where appropriate
- Foster a high-performance and collaborative culture, developing talent pipelines through coaching and mentoring
